Discovery

We spend time on the site and considerably more time with you, before we draw anything.

Discovery is where most of the project is actually decided. We visit the site at different hours, study orientation and climate, and talk at length about how you live — who cooks, who works from home, how often you host, what you have outgrown in your current home. We also establish the honest budget and programme early, because a design developed against the wrong number is wasted work for everybody.

Concept

A single clear idea for the project, tested against the brief and the site.

We present one primary direction rather than a menu of options — a resolved position we believe in, with the reasoning visible. Concept is presented through plans, massing, hand studies, an early material direction and reference imagery. We expect to revise it with you; we do not expect to abandon it, because the thinking behind it was done in Discovery.

Design Development

The idea is held constant while every room, junction and dimension is resolved.

This is the longest and least glamorous stage, and it is where premium projects separate from ordinary ones. Room by room, we resolve dimensions, joinery, lighting layers, service coordination and finishes. Consultants — structure, MEP, landscape, acoustics — are brought in and coordinated. You review and sign off progressively, so nothing is a surprise at the end.

Detailing & Documentation

Drawings precise enough that the quality survives contact with the site.

A design is only as good as its documentation. We produce construction-grade drawings at the scales that matter — 1:20, 1:5, 1:1 where a junction demands it — along with specifications, method statements and full-size on-site sample panels. This is the stage that protects your investment, because it removes interpretation from the contractor.

Execution Coordination

Regular site presence, weekly reporting, and decisions resolved before they become delays.

We are not the contractor, but we do not disappear once building starts. We hold weekly site reviews, issue written observation reports, review shop drawings and mock-ups, and resolve the inevitable field conditions in a way that protects the design intent. You receive a single written update each week — progress, decisions pending, and anything that needs you.

Styling & Handover

The final layer — and a home you can actually live in from the first night.

Furniture, textiles, art, lighting levels and the hundred small objects that make a house feel inhabited rather than photographed. We snag thoroughly, commission the systems, and hand over a maintenance and materials guide — how the lime should be cleaned, how the brass will patina, who to call. Where the project merits it, we coordinate architectural photography.
